The Joy of Growing Miniature Roses
Miniature roses are exactly what they sound like: Miniature versions of real roses. Some people don’t think they’re actually roses, when in fact they are. They’ve just been purposely cultivated to grow much smaller than standard size roses, and taking care of them is very much like taking care of regular sized roses too.
Miniature roses grow much smaller than standard sized rose bushes do, so they’re able to be grown in smaller spaces. The blooms are much smaller too, but they come in a wide variety of colors just as regular roses do, so they’ll fit into any garden design or theme you’d like.
Miniature roses do tend to be much hardier than standard size rose bushes, and they can survive even in very cold weather conditions as long as they have some mulch around the base. Miniature roses also tend to bloom for much longer periods of time, which is one of the reasons they’re so popular in modern gardens.

Adding Purple & Blue to Your Flower Garden
Many flowers bloom with a variety of colors throughout their flowering season, and some of the most beautiful are shades of purple. Now, in some cases a “purple” flower might actually look closer to a shade of red, and blue flowers don’t always look quite blue either. But getting exact matching shades is of course possible if you plant the same flowers, but getting shades of a color usually adds much more interest to the garden.
One of my favorite flowers which blooms in a pale lavendar purple color is a Morning Glory. These flowers can come in a whole host of colors, but some varieties rebloom with just certain specific colors instead. Morning glories grow on vines which will climb a trellis, fence, or bush, and they’ll even creep out across the yard in a ground cover like fashion if you let them. The flowers open early in the mornings, and close by midday.

Raised Garden Beds Part 1
Planting your vegetable garden in a raised garden bed makes maintenance, weeding and care much easier to do. If you created your raised beds high enough, you’ll even be able to reduce or eliminate the back pain and soreness that often comes with bending over your garden beds and plants.
Raised garden beds can be almost any height of course. The easiest to create are just a foot or two high, but the most convenient tend to be at least waist high instead. When using raised garden beds for vegetable gardens, it’s also best to make sure your beds are not too large. Creating a vegetable garden bed which is about three to four feet wide will make it easier for you to reach the middle plants in your bed, even after everything has started growing large.
When you created raised vegetable garden beds, you can plant just one small bed with multiple vegetables, or you can create multiple beds, each with one or two vegetables apiece. If you decide to create multiple beds though, be sure to leave several feet of space in between them, so that you’re able to easily move around with various garden tools and supplies.
